Fiji Hindi Translations badlo

Thank you for the translations that you have done. Although Fiji Hindi developed during the indenture period (1879 - 1920), it was only in 1977 that linguists analysed it and realised that it was a unique language with its own grammar. Since then attempts have been made to write in this language. Of course, the Roman script is preferred as it is acceptable to both Hindus and Muslims. It is a language that unites Fiji Indians. Fiji Hindi contains a high proportion of Urdu words (perhaps originating from Calcutta Hindustani) but contains many Fijian and English derived words. The younger generation do tend to use a lot of English words directly.

For the words that you have listed, the Fiji Hindi equivalents are:

  • Christian - Isaai
  • Politician - Leader log
  • Terrorist - Terrorist (no equivalent Fiji Hindi word, so English word can be used)
  • Militant - Militant (no equivalent Fiji Hindi word, so English word can be used)
  • Army - Army (English word used mostly)
  • Script - Likhe ke dhang
  • Ban - Ruukawat lagao
  • Kill - Maaro (same word also used for "Hit")
