1994 ke election me uu Ba Rural Indian Constituency ke jiitis.

1999 ke election me uu Macuata East Open Constituency se jiitis aur Mahendra Chaudhry ke government me rahaa lekin 2000 ke coup ke kaaran uske fir se hatawa gais.[2]

2001 ke election me uu aur jaada bahumat se jitis aur Fiji Labour Party ke Vice-President aur parliamentary whip banaa.

2003 me, Datt ke Prime Minister, Laisenia Qarase, Minister for Special Education, the Disabled and National Library Serviceske post, 13 aur FLP parliamentarians ke saathe offer karis lekin FLP ii offer ke reject kar diis.[3]

2006 ke election me Datt, Nasinu Indian Communal Constituency see jaada bahumati se chuna gais aur iske baad uske multi-party cabinet me Minister for Labour aur Minister for Employment Opportunities appoint karaa gais.[4]

FLP ke cabinet ke members ke uske leader, Mahendra Chaudhry, 2007 budget ke virod me vote kare ke batais lekin Datt vote kare ke time House me nai rahaa. Chaudhry maangat rahaa ke uske virod me disciplinary action lewa jaae lekin kuchh kare se pahile 2006 ke coup hoe gais.[5] Datt ke governmnment se , military coup ke kaaran, tiin dafe hatawa gais hae.[6]
